What to doWhen your plans change
The Rules and Regulations pertaining to The Route 66 MTB Experience may change slightly in the weeks leading up to the race. The final version will be communicated at the race briefing at the start of each stage.
Mountain Bike racing is by nature self-reliant and often held in remote areas. All competitors must participate with an understanding and acceptance of this ethos.
Rules for Substitutions
- Should you wish to substitute yourself you are able to do so. We encourage you to make substitutions as soon as possible such that we can update our records and send relevant information to the new rider.
- Any substitutions made in the last week prior to the start of the event will be seeded in the last start batch on the first day.
- Substitutions can only be done at a cost of R200.
- Substitutions can be done up until Tuesday the 25th of February. No substitutions will be allowed after this.

Route 66 Cancellation Policy
- Entries close on Sunday the 23rd of February at 23h00.
- 100% of the registration fee will be refunded if written notice is received on or before Sunday the 23rd of February but will be subject to an Administration Fee of R200.
- 50% of the registration fee will be refunded if riders cancel on or before the 25th of February.
- 0% of the registration fee will be refunded if riders cancel on or after Tuesday the 25th of February.
- If substitutions are done, these will be done at a cost of R200 per rider.
- If you cannot ride, entries will NOT be transferred to 2026.
- Should you wish to ride and missed the entry deadline, a late entry fee will apply.
- In the event of adverse weather conditions, health regulations, Covid restrictions, the race organiser and the chief commissaire reserve the right to cancel or postpone the race or stage due to safety conditions and no refunds will be given.
- However, your entry will be transferred to the next event provided it takes place in 2025 at no cost. Should you not be able to make the dates, or the event is cancelled for 2025, a 60% discount will be offered for the 2026 event.
