Facilities & Checklist
Know what to expect during the weekend
First Aid &Paramedic Facilities
- A professional team of qualified paramedics will be providing the first aid and paramedic services both on and off the course this year.
- Their base will be at the Mount Grace Hotel & Spa.
- They can be consulted if you have any medical problems on your return from each stage for approximately 60 minutes from the cut off time on the day.
- There will be support vehicles on the stages to attend to any mishaps or accidents/injuries which may occur.
- You will have emergency contact numbers for this service pre-printed on your race number.
Sports Massages
A qualified therapist will be available at the end of the race on each day. Booking can be made directly upon your return to the race village and fees are for your own account.
Bike Wash Facilities
Our bike wash facility will once again be set up near the finish area after each stage. The cost of the bike wash is included in your entry fee, however, feel free to tip the lads as they are from Girls & Boys Town.
GeneralConditions
- For bike security, it is recommended that you wait for your bike to be washed and not leave them to be collected later. You are also requested not to leave accessories of value on the bike while it is being washed i.e., computers, heart rate monitors, GPS receivers, pumps, saddlebags etc.
- Once your bike has been washed, please place it in the Bike Park or take it to your car.
- Whilst the utmost care will be taken, The Route 66 MTB Experience, race organisers, sponsors, landowners, helpers etc. will not be held responsible for any losses or damage to any bicycles, accessories etc. while bikes are being washed or at the bike wash facility.

- Although paramedic and medical services will be provided during the race and for a period after the completion of each stage, the self-reliant and remote nature of a mountain bike race requires that each rider carries the following items to be prepared to deal with emergencies they may experience:
- A multi-tool to effect repairs to bikes.
- At least one spare tube per rider.
- At least one good pump and a puncture repair kit.
- At least one cell phone. It is recommended that sim cards for two cellular service providers are carried, as reception is not covered fully in the mountains around Magalies.

- Sterile First Aid dressings
- Adhesive plasters
- Sun block with a minimum factor of 30
