The 2017 Bridgestone Route 66 MTB Experience

Back for the 7th time by popular demand, it’s The Bridgestone Route 66 MTB Experience and is, without a doubt, the most popular stage race in Gauteng.

This must be part of your 2017-training programme, especially if you’ve committed to doing one or more of the big mountain biking events in 2017 - Epic, Joburg2C or Sani2C.

It’s a tough and challenging three-day MTB event starting on Friday 17th to Sunday 19th February 2017.

You have a choice of doing one of the following events:
1) 3 days: The Bridgestone Route 66 MTB Experience, (Teams of 2 riders or solo riders)
2) 2 days: The Bridgestone Route 66 MTB Weekend Experience (solo riders only)
3) 1 day: The Bridgestone Route 66 MTB Mini Experience – Corporate Packages only (solo riders only)

Entries closed. Late entries at Number Collection (EFT or cash)

The 3-day experience will start and finish at the Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve in The Cradle of Humankind, some three days later.

In true Leverage Corporation fashion, this will be a ride where you will be challenged; it will be a ride which you will enjoy; and it will be a fantastic event which is well organised and run.

SO WHAT’S NEW?

• The routes won’t have changed much from 2016, but there will be about a 20% variance due to natural landscape or specific logistical changes
• Day 2 starts and finishes at Maropeng in The Cradle of Humankind.
• There will be a post-ride meal on all three days to help re-charge those batteries after each stage.

RACE OVERVIEW

Here’s what the race entails:

Day 1: An 82km "warm up" – starting at The Thatch Cafe, Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve and finishing at Maropeng in The Cradle of Humankind.

Day 2: A tough and challenging 77km route starting and finishing at Maropeng. But you'll need to negotiate more than a couple "men from the boys" climbs and technical bits before arriving back at Maropeng in the Cradle of Humankind.

Day 3: A final 60km burst from Maropeng to The Thatch Cafe, Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve in The Cradle of Humankind.

210 km later - you're now ready for that 5 star spoil. Kick back and enjoy a leisurely lunch, compliments of us, while you relax on the lawns and soak up the views in the relaxing company of family and friends.
